Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at the JRO Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will proceed through Customs and Immigration. Please obtain your visa if you haven't already done so (E-Visa is recommended). In the arrivals hall, you will be greeted by a local representative, who will transfer you directly to your hotel in Arusha. This drive will take around one hour, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy a comfortable start to your adventure in Africa!

Arusha

Arusha is the gateway to Tanzania's northern circuit, serving as a base for Kilimanjaro treks and wildlife safaris into Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater. Transport hub aside, Arusha even offers its own opportunities for exploration, including day trips to Arusha National Park, canoeing tours on Momella Lake and Meru coffee plantation visits. For those looking to just rest and recover from jet lag, Arusha also features the perfect stop to relax and recharge, before continuing your African adventure!

Entrance to Tarangire National Park & Game Drive

This morning, you will be met by your group guide and driver to kick off your safari expedition! From Arusha, your journey begins with a 3 hour drive to the legendary Tarangire National Park. Upon entering the park, you will experience your first thrilling game drive en route to your safari camp. At the lodge, you will have time to get settled and relax, before your exploration in Tarangire National Park continues with another adventure this afternoon.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire is one of the most diverse National Parks in Tanzania. Covering a promising area of 1,360 sq km, Tarangire is situated in the northwestern corner of Tanzania’s Masai Steppe, east of The Great Rift Valley. This region boasts large herds of elephant and buffalo, in addition to an impressive concentration of big cats. Featuring over 500 different species, Tarangire also offers the best bird diversity in East Africa. The rugged landscape offers a unique safari backdrop, that blends seamlessly between rolling grasslands, messy swamps and forests of baobab trees.

Tarangire National Park Game Drive

Gear up and enjoy a full day of game driving in Tarangire National Park! In particular, it is the Tarangire Migration that offers the area's most desirable wildlife spectacle. It is no secret that this event is far less popular than the world renowned Serengeti Migration, although the experience is just as thrilling.

Reaching up to 250,000 large mammals in total, this migration may only be about one fifth the size of the Serengeti Migration, at least in terms of zebras and wildebeest, but it does feature a much wider range of species. The Tarangire Migration showcases giraffes, buffaloes, oryx, ostriches, elephants and lions, just to name a few. During the dry season, from June to November, the animals migrate in towards the Tarangire River, where they congregate in great numbers. The game viewing at this time can be extraordinarily strong. By far, the most significant contribution to this event is the elephant population, which is represented in the several thousands!

Esilalei Maasai Village

This morning, you will take a break from your wildlife tracking and safari tours, in order to enjoy a special cultural experience. There is so much more to Tanzania than just the wildlife, and a journey deep into the Maasai Heartlands invites you to experience the lesser-known wonders.

Your guide will take you to a local village here, called Esilalei. This rural village is scenically located in the wildlife corridor between Tarangire and Lake Manyara. As you enter their community, you will be greeted by the village elders, children and Morani Warriors. They will show you around their village and offer a glimpse into their very rural world. At the end of your tour, you will say goodbye to your new friends and continue towards the Crater Highlands, where your next lodge awaits.

Crater Highlands

The Crater Highlands features an idyllic stopping point, on the journey from Tarangire and Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. This rural region is known for its lovely farmhouse lodges, vast landscapes, flourishing coffee plantations, working farms and local ethnic communities. Through a variety of cultural activities on offer in the area, you are invited to immerse yourself in the rhythms and beauty of rural farm life and the pristine surrounding nature.

Ngorongoro Crater Descent & Game Drive

Early this morning, you will embark on an epic descent into the Ngorongoro Crater. Featuring dramatic open landscapes and impressive game viewing, it is no surprise that this attraction is often described as the eighth wonder of the world. Ngorongoro is a collapsed volcano - a fascinating natural amphitheater that stretches 25 kilometers across. This destination is teeming with Africa's most alluring big game. Look closely, and if you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino!

This morning, you will be taken to the MAN Airstrip in good time to board your domestic charter flight to the KOT Airstrip, where your safari expedition continues in the Northern Serengeti.

Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti National Park is the best place on the planet to admire large game. An experience in the Serengeti promises an adventure you will never forget. From one exhilarating game drive to the next, your guide will help you to track down majestic prides of lions, cheetah, leopard and much more! Each evening can be spent at your enchanting tented camp, sharing stories by the fire and enjoying dinner beneath a blanket of African stars.

Northern Serengeti National Park Game Drives

The next few days of your adventure will be spent game driving in the Northern Serengeti! This idyllic location offers the best chance of viewing the Great Migration at this time of year. The most iconic part of this event showcases scores of wildebeest and zebra attempting to cross the Mara River, which separates Tanzania from Kenya. With the knowledge, expertise and tracking skills of your guide, you will make the most of this legendary experience. Something that most travelers only ever dream of, the majestic Great Migration promises to be a highlight of your trip.

This morning, you will say goodbye to the wonders of the Serengeti, as you board your final domestic charter flight from the KOT Airstrip to the ARK Airstrip. Back in Arusha, you can enjoy the comfort and convenience of a Day Use Room at the lovely Arusha Coffee Lodge. Lunch will be served at the property, before you are free to relax and freshen up. Later this evening, you will be transferred back to the JRO Kilimanjaro International Airport in good time to board your departure flight.
