The Swedish capital is built on fourteen different islands connected by 57 bridges– so it’s easy to say that you’re never far from water when you are in Stockholm. Gamla Stan, with its narrow, cobbled alleys and beautiful old houses, is one of the best preserved medieval cities of northern Europe. It’s perfect for a day of café hopping and browsing through the many charming shops that are dotted throughout the old town. Stockholm offers a fantastic selection of museums, such as the open-air museum Skansen, the maritime Vasa Museum, Fotografiska and of course, the ABBA Museum. For those who want to do an excursion outside the city, Drottningholm Palace, residence of the royal family, or picturesque Sigtuna, the oldest town in Sweden are absolute must-visits.
Today, experience a culinary smörgåsbord that combines an exotic and multicultural mix of unique restaurants and shops! Dine on delicious food samples while learning about their fantastic food and culture. This tour will take place in Södermalm, the old working class neighborhood has turned bohemian chic, packed with vibrant new restaurants.
This 4 hour tour includes 7 food stops, so be sure to come hungry! (This service is on a private basis.)
Come along on a wonderful sightseeing tour with the M/S Angantyr in wintry Stockholm! You'll be taken along the city quaysides and out to Fjäderholmarna islands. This is Stockholm's closest archipelago island, which you will sail around before returning to the city. During the trip, you'll pass many magnificent, contemporary and historic buildings, as well as beautiful nature on Royal Djurgården! On a winter day when the water freezes over, you may even be lucky enough to see some ice breaking.
During your cruise, the on-board guide will share fascinating anecdotes and interesting facts about the places you sail by. Defy the cold and sit outdoors on the upper deck of the boat to get the best archipelago views during your trip. Cozy pelts and fleece blankets are available on board for you to borrow if you feel chilly. If you get hungry during your trip, there are light lunch options, pastries, snacks, and warm and cold drinks. Make sure to try glögg- warm Swedish mulled wine!
Today, you will be met and transferred from your hotel to the airport in good time for your onward flight. Upon arrival in Luleå, you will be taken to your Brändön Lodge accommodations. (This service is on a private basis.)
Luleå is the biggest city in Swedish Lapland. It not only has a vital city life but is close to breathtaking nature- from crystalline waters, the archipelago and the Aurora Borealis! The far north of Sweden is a land of vast forests and mountains. It is the land of the dancing Northern Lights in the arctic winter and of endless summer days under the Midnight Sun.
Along with your nature guide you will spend a fantastic four hours exploring the islands of the Luleå archipelago by snowmobile. Across the frozen sea and islands you will enjoy learning about the nature, local history and the arctic way of life! In particular, you will be searching for small fishing villages- frozen in time in the winter, a variety of local wildlife and the unique ice formations that appear on the edges of the islands. Your nature guides will meet you by the lodge for a briefing about the days adventure. Safety instructions are given as well as background information regarding what you are about to experience. The ambition of the tour is to reach the most remote outermost islands of the archipelago. If conditions are right, you will aim for Brändöskär. This is an idyllic fishing village dating back to the 17th century. You will have the opportunity to visit the chapel which dates from 1774 and pass by idyllic fishing huts. Outside of the outermost islands is the frozen Bothnian bay, with its seemingly endless fields of pack ice and snow. Some years the blue ice of the sea piles up into formations about 10 meters high- an amazing experience! (This service is on a private basis.)
From Brändön Lodge you will be introduced to a local Sami man, Jon-Anders who will give you insight into his culture and way of life. You will then walk in to the reindeer enclosure where Jon-Anders will explain more about the “year of the reindeer”, the eight seasons and how they work with the reindeer and nature in each of these. Enjoy a walk around with the reindeer while learning more about the Sami. Afterwards, make your way to the tent where you will sit down around the fire for a cozy cup of tea. Take in the atmosphere of the tent and continue the discussion with Jon-Anders. A lovely lunch is included by the fire. (This service is on a private basis.)
Embark on a dogsledding adventure, an amazing winter activity! After introductions, a safety briefing and information on the journey ahead, you and up to 3 other people will sit on a sled while your guide will mush the husky team and drive them along a forest and lake trail. Along the way, enjoy the scenery and thrill of the husky team. On stops the guide will inform you about the life of a husky musher in the frozen north, the dogs as well as the fantastic arctic nature all around. This dog-sledding experience is approximately 1 hour in total and it is sure to leave you with some fantastic memories. (This service is on a group basis.)
This evening experience a candle light dinner, somewhere out on the frozen arctic sea. From your lodge you will be transferred on snowmobile to your destination. On arrival at the Aurora Hideaway you will be warmly welcomed and offered a drink of your choice- wine, beer or a warm drink. Your guide will then serve a hot steamy soup as your first dish. The stove in the Aurora Hideaway has a sparkling fire roaring and the candles and tealights creates a magical atmosphere. Take some time to go outside to look for the Northern Lights or just enjoy the absolute silence and the stars in the sky. Your guide will prepare the delicious main course over the outdoor fire. The relaxed evening is finished off with dessert and tea/coffee before returning to your Lodge. The Aurora Hideaways are small “restaurants” that move around in the archipelago with a snow cat. They choose the best places possible depending on wind, weather and ice conditions for each evening’s event. Snowshoes are brought on the tour so that you can go for a short walk while the guide prepares your meal. (This service is on a private basis.)
Although your adventure must come to an end today, you will be leaving with new friends, amazing experiences and memories to cherish for the rest of your life. Once you have checked out, you will be met by your driver and transferred to the airport in good time to board your departure flight. (This service is on a private basis.)
