Full Day Panama City & Canal Tour

After breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on a full-day tour of Panama City, including the Panama Canal! During the first half of your tour, you will explore the ruins of Old Panama, climb up the Cathedral tower, and visit the Old Panama Museum before continuing to Casco Viejo (the old city compound), dating back to the late 1600s. Casco Viejo is the Site of the French Plaza, containing statues of Ferdinand de Lesseps and other Frenchmen instrumental in the ill-fated attempt of the French to construct a canal through Panama. Along the way, your bilingual guide will describe the events in history, leading up to the eventual movement of the capital city to its present location.

After lunch, we will visit the Panama Canal Miraflores Visitor Center where you can marvel at the workings of this feat of human engineering by going through the four floors of exhibits. In the late afternoon, you will return to your hotel in Panama City.

Soberania National Park Hiking & Jungle Boat Tour

This morning you will be picked up from the lobby of your hotel by your Naturalist Guide for a 45-minute drive to the town of Gamboa, where the Chagres River meets the Panama Canal. Here, you will board a boat and head off on an adventure across Gatun Lake in the Panama Canal, passing by monumental cargo ships transiting the waterway.

Along the way, keep your eyes open for Green iguanas, three-toed sloths, crocodile, ospreys, Snail kite, keel-billed toucan, and other wildlife endemic to the area. The tour boat will circle rainforest-covered islands, allowing you to observe and search for the Mantled Howler Monkey, White-faced Capuchin, Central American Spider Monkey, and Geoffrey’s Tamarin. After the boat tour, you will head to Soberania National Park for a hiking tour around the trails of the lush forest.
